DEPOLLUTION OF RIVERS AND SPRINGS
Basic sanitation has to be implemented in a structural way throughout the community, because the absence of it is the matrix of several evils.
Until then, the stench of the River Thames, the main destination for all the city's garbage, dominated Parliament, where the lords were looking for a solution to their problem. The answer lay in basic hygiene. With the opening of the integrated sewer system in 1865, London managed to win the war against the cholera epidemic and even saved the river Thames from pollution.
There is no shortage of good successful models like this around the world, like the rivers Seine (France), Tagus (Portugal), Cheonggyecheon and Han (South Korea), Rhine (Europe), Cuyahoga (United States) and the Canals of Copenhagen (Denmark).
THE SOLUTIONS
There are several technologies already employed that have proven to be effective. What differentiates the choice of one or the other are geographic, physical, volumetric and operational capacity factors regarding the applicability of each proposal, in addition to, of course, the financial cost in relation to the scale of action, since it is necessary to consider all the elements involved, as eventual costs with indemnification of areas, in addition to the removal and relocation of residents of riverside areas (conditionSine Quan Non for the success of the undertaking) have a considerably high cost, which is why the construction of housing complexes is foreseen in the Ápice Institute project.
The most used techniques for the recovery of rivers are: dredging, grating, flotation, ecological techniques and nuclear techniques. All of them can be used separately or together depending on the need. There are other potentially effective techniques that can be used depending on the demand, and which will be explored as they become necessary.
It is clear that all the proposals described will be associated with the work of constant maintenance of ecological awareness, through advertising campaigns in the most diverse means of communication, in addition to being encouraged in academic circles in a more forceful way, since this is a preponderant factor for the perpetuity of the projects.
